KEY POINTS

  • HBO Succession's Kendall Roy is known for his odd, stylish outfits and false bravado.
  • If we were to look in Kendall's wallet, we'd find the most exclusive card by American Express -- the American Express Business Centurion.
  • We'd probably also find some Icelandic krona, and perhaps the "joke" that changed everything for him.

Every now and then, TV produces unforgettable characters. Michael Scott. Walter White. Denise Huxtable. Daenerys Targaryen. But perhaps no character has tried so hard to get on the list of media and TV legends -- if only to prove it to his father -- than Succession's Kendall Roy.

Through four seasons, Kendall's character evolves through his outfits -- from a tight-fitting business suit in Season 1 to a tight-fitting business suit and baseball cap in Season 3 -- but one thing that's remarkably absent is a look inside the billionaire's wallet.

For all his "dude" and "bro" talk, keeping it down to earth while staying professional, Kendall may seem like the kind of rich kid who keeps his wallet on his phone. But if Kendall did have a wallet -- which, let's be real: Who would carry a Centurion Card freely and unhoused? -- what might he have inside?

Let's speculate.

1. American Express Business Centurion Card

Let's start with what we know -- Kendall owns the exclusive American Express Business Centurion Card, which we see him use in Season 1 to buy a Perrier at a bar in New Mexico.

Just how exclusive is the American Express Business Centurion Card? Well, for one, you can't apply for it -- it's invite-only. Secondly, even if you were invited, you would have to pay a $10,000 initiation fee, plus a $5,000 annual fee. American Express doesn't release much information about the American Express Business Centurion Card, but supposedly it grants cardholders elite status at a number of hotels and airlines and rebates 50% of the points you spend on travel through Amex's Travel portal (terms apply -- I think?).

Of course, if you're rich enough to own this card, you probably wouldn't care about the reward system (or how its rewards compared to credit cards).

2. Icelandic krona

In the first episode of Season 2, Kendall is rehabbing at a facility in Iceland (fun fact: it's actually a house near a town called Bifröst). Even though Iceland is largely a contactless-pay society, Kendall likely had to pull out Icelandic krona at some point. That's because most of Iceland -- like most countries outside the U.S. -- doesn't accept American Express credit cards. Unless Kendall had a travel credit card, or something like it, I bet he had to take out some bills.

3. The "joke"

Flashback to Season 1 (episode four) when Kendall almost took over for his father at the company's annual gala fundraiser, thus symbolizing his succession to CEO. In many ways, it was the turning point for the rest of the show, both in denying Ken what was almost his and revitalizing his father to reclaim what he could not give up.

The "joke," which we never heard, endowed Logan through Connor's misinterpretation of the teleprompter ("Dad, you're retiring?") with enough strength to reach the podium on his own and triumph over the delusional belief that Kendall was ousting him.

Kendall has the joke written out on a wallet-sized notecard, which I guarantee is still in his wallet. Come on -- with all that braggadocio beforehand, you know Kenny wants to prove he's still funny, especially after everyone doubted his sense of humor.

"Do you want to call your dad?"

For all this character's great one liners and outfits, I'd imagine a treasure trove of other oddities (and perhaps illicit ones too), like a key fob to his $29 million penthouse, a defunct card to ATN, and maybe even a business card with his name clearly underlined. As for the wallet itself, I imagine it (like the clothes Kendall wears) is brandless and monochromatic, costing perhaps more than my monthly rent and above all -- waterproof
