Full Amazon Business Prime American Express Card review
This credit card is a good fit for: Amazon Prime members who want to earn cash back on purchases at Amazon Business, Amazon.com, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Whole Foods Market.
Top perks
These are the top features of the Amazon Business Prime American Express Card.
No annual fee
There is no annual fee to use the Amazon Business Prime American Express Card (see rates and fees). If you're looking for a credit card without a yearly fee, this card meets that requirement.
Earn rewards
You can earn rewards when using the Amazon Business Prime American Express Card to make U.S. purchases at:
Amazon Business
AWS
Amazon.com
Whole Foods Market
Prime members earn 5% and non-Prime members earn 3%. There's a spending cap of $120,000 each calendar year to earn these rewards. After the above spending cap is reached, eligible purchases earn 1% rewards.
All cardmembers also earn the following rewards:
2% back on purchases at U.S. restaurants, gas stations, and wireless telephone services purchased directly from service providers
Optional 0% interest 60- or 90-day payment terms on eligible purchases
Cardmembers also have the option of 0% interest payment terms on eligible purchases:
Prime members: Eligible for 90-day payment terms
Non-Prime members: Eligible for 60-day payment terms
Terms apply. Keep in mind that if you choose to use these 0% interest payment terms, you'll be ineligible to earn 5% or 3% back in rewards on the associated purchases. You must choose one or the other.
If you need to make a large purchase, this offer could give you more time to pay it off without worrying about expensive interest charges.
Amazon gift card offer
New cardholders are eligible for an Amazon gift card offer. Get a $100 Amazon gift card upon approval. Eligible Prime members get a $125 Amazon gift card upon approval. Terms apply.
If you plan to use this credit card while traveling internationally, you can do so with confidence. No foreign transaction fees are charged when using the Amazon Business Prime American Express Card (see rates and fees). Similar cards can charge 3% per foreign transaction.
High spending cap
While there's a yearly spending cap for the bonus rewards, it's a high one. You can earn rewards on up to $120,000 in spending per year -- which is much more generous than many other rewards credit cards.
Alternatives to consider
If you want to earn an unlimited 5% on Amazon purchases: The Prime Visa has no annual fee and offers Prime members unlimited 5% earning on Amazon and Whole Foods purchases. While not a business card, there's no spending cap on the bonus earning rate.
If you want to earn rewards on gas and Costco purchases: The Costco Anywhere Visa® Business Card by Citi card has no annual fee as long as you're a Costco member. You can earn 4% on up to $7,000 per year spent on gas, including at Costco, and an unlimited 2% on Costco and Costco.com purchases.

What could be improved
The Amazon Business Prime American Express Card has some flaws worth noting.
Non-Prime members earn fewer rewards
The Amazon Business Prime American Express Card is designed with Amazon Prime members in mind. If you're not an Amazon Prime member, you'll earn fewer rewards with this card. While this card has no annual fee, business Prime memberships begin at $69 per year. If you want to maximize the reward potential of this card, your best bet is to be an Amazon Prime member.
No rewards on 0% interest purchases
Cardholders must choose whether to earn rewards or take advantage of no-interest payment terms for eligible purchases. Unfortunately, you can't do both.
Limited 0% interest
If you choose to use the 60- or 90-day no-interest payment terms, you'll want to keep in mind that this is only available for eligible Amazon Business, AWS, Amazon.com, and Whole Foods Market purchases. Terms apply. What's more, the time frame is short.
If you need more time to pay off costly business expenses, there are 0% intro APR credit cards with much longer terms -- many offer an intro APR for 15 to 18 months.
Limited redemption options
You can redeem points earned with the Amazon Business Prime American Express Card in one of two ways. You can use points to shop at Amazon.com and Amazon Business, or you can apply points toward a purchase in the form of a statement credit.
If you're looking for a rewards credit card with more flexible redemption options, you'll want to look elsewhere.
Suggested credit score
This credit card is intended for consumers with good to excellent credit. A FICO® Score of 670 is recommended when applying for the Amazon Business Prime American Express Card. It's possible to get approved with a lower score or be denied with a higher credit score.
You need a business to apply for this credit card, but various business types qualify. As an example, entrepreneurs, freelancers, and small business owners may be eligible for a business credit card.
At The Motley Fool Ascent, we rate credit cards on a five-star scale (1 = poor, 5 = best). Our rating criteria includes rewards rates, welcome bonuses, fees, and perks like travel credits and 0% intro APR offers to evaluate our ratings.
We combine these factors with an evaluation of brand reputation and customer satisfaction to ensure you're getting the best card recommendations. Learn more about how The Ascent rates credit cards.
FAQs
This credit card is open to all eligible business owners, whether you're an Amazon Prime member or not. However, to maximize your rewards you'll want to be an Amazon Prime member as well.
If you can pay off the purchase by the payment due date, the 5% cash back puts extra money in your pocket. But if you need longer to pay off a larger purchase, the 60- or 90-day payment terms may be a more sensible option.
