The Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard® is the most premium American Airlines credit card, offering a number of American Airlines benefits to help offset its $595 annual fee. Arguably the marquee feature is complimentary Admirals Club membership, which usually costs up to $850 a year for an individual membership.
Rules may vary by lounge, but you can typically bring your immediate family or up to two guests. (Immediate family includes spouse or partner and your children under the age of 18.)
Lounges you can enter with a Admirals Club membership
An Admirals Club membership includes access to nearly 100 lounges, split roughly 50-50 between Admirals Club lounges and partner lounges. The specific partner lounges you can access will vary by location, but may include:
- Oneworld Lounge
- Japan Airlines Sakura Lounge
- The Qantas Club
- Alaska Lounge
- Encalm Lounge (DEL)
- Goldair Lounge (ATH)
- Eventyr Lounge (CPH)
- ANA Lounge (LIS)
- Prima Visa Lounge (FCO)
- Primeclass Lounge (ZRH)
Partner lounge access generally requires a same-day boarding pass on an American Airlines operated flight. (Some lounges may also accept a same-day boarding pass for the airline that runs the lounge, e.g. Qantas Airlines flights and The Qantas Club.)
Which is the best Admirals Club location?
Picking a favorite lounge is fairly subjective, since we all value different things. However, general consensus online seems to be that the top Admiral Club locations are:
- DCA (Washington, D.C.), Terminal 2, Concourse E: This lounge is listed on AA's website as "a new and reimagined Admirals Club lounge." Folks online like the size and decor, comparing it in quality to an Amex Centurion Lounge.
- LGA (New York, New York), Terminal B: This lounge was expanded in 2022, and it still has a bit of that new lounge shine. People like the size, service, and all-important second bar.
Wondering about the other end of the spectrum? Again, opinions were mixed, but both MCO (Orlando, Florida) and CLT (Charlotte, North Carolina) are consistently voted as the worst Admirals Clubs.
A note on the (only mostly dead) Citi Prestige® Card
If we want to get really pedantic, we can mention that the Citi Prestige® Card comes with a complimentary Priority Pass membership. However, there are two very important details we also need to note in this case:
- This card is not open to new applicants; and
- You can't product change or upgrade from another Citi credit card.
In other words, unless you already have a Citi Prestige® Card, you can't get one. This means there is a very small pool of existing cardholders who can benefit from its lounge access perk.
Other credit cards with great lounge access
A ton of great travel rewards cards also come with varying types of lounge access. Take a look at some of the best cards for lounge access below.
