Wells Fargo Transfer Partners

Many or all of the products here are from our partners that compensate us. It’s how we make money. But our editorial integrity ensures our experts’ opinions aren’t influenced by compensation. Terms may apply to offers listed on this page.

Wells Fargo started offering rewards points transfers in spring of 2024. The list of partners is short for now, but Wells Fargo has promised to add more over time. Let's take a closer look at how you can transfer rewards points from Wells Fargo.

List of Wells Fargo's travel partners

Wells Fargo Rewards points can currently be transferred to five airline programs and one hotel program:

Partner Transfer Ratio
Aer Lingus AerClub 1:1
Avianca LifeMiles 1:1
British Airways Executive Club 1:1
Air France-KLM Flying Blue 1:1
Iberia Plus 1:1
Choice Privileges 1:2
Data source: Wells Fargo.

A 1:1 ratio means you get one frequent flyer mile for each Wells Fargo Rewards point you transfer. The 1:2 ratio for Choice Privileges means you get 2 Choice points for each Wells Fargo Rewards point you transfer.

Transfers are made in 1,000-point increments and are not reversible.

Which are the best transfer partners?

Which partner offers the best value will depend a lot on how you use your rewards once you transfer them. Each partner has its high-value and low-value redemptions, so you'll want to play around with routes and airlines to find your best deal.

Here are a few notes on Wells Fargo's travel partners:

  • Aer Lingus AerClub: If you want a cheap flight to Dublin from the east coast, then this is for you. Fly from Boston to Dublin in economy for just 13,000 Avios and about $120 taxes/fees. Or fly in business class for 60,001 Avios and around $140 in taxes/fees.
  • Avianca LifeMiles: If you're flexible, you can use these to find cheap, low-fee, last-minute award flights on partner Star Alliance airlines (a lot of folks recommend using them for Lufthansa first class, in particular). However, I've seen a lot of experts warn about unreliable booking methods and not-so-great customer service, so keep that in mind.
  • British Airways Executive Club: I'd avoid British Airways for most international awards, since the airline likes to tack on extraneous fees (80,000 Avios and $400-plus in cash for a one-way business class ticket?!). You could get some decent value redeeming for domestic flights on American Airlines partner flights.
  • Air France-KLM Flying Blue: You can find great availability for business class award flights on Air France's website. The fees are a little higher than some other airlines, but the miles cost is usually low. For example, you can fly from New York to Paris in business class for just 50,000 miles and around $200 in taxes/fees.
  • Iberia Plus: There are a few specific routes that Iberia offers with fantastically low points costs and low fees. For instance, you can fly from Boston to Madrid in business class for just 34,000 points, plus around $120 in taxes/fees. The best value will be for off-peak dates and flying to/from Spain.

  2. Click on your Rewards balance to head to the Rewards portal
  3. Under the Use Rewards tab, choose Rewards Points Transfer
  4. Link your frequent flyer or hotel rewards account

How long does transferring Wells Fargo points take?

Wells Fargo says that most transfers should occur immediately, but that you may occasionally need to wait up to 72 hours for a transfer to complete.

Real-world timetables

The program is new enough that there aren't a ton of folks reporting their experiences. However, other than a hiccup at launch, what few reports I found had an essentially instant transfer. I also haven't seen any complaints of long transfer times or other transfer problems.

Other ways to redeem Wells Fargo Rewards points

If you don't want to transfer your Wells Fargo credit card rewards, you can choose to redeem them in a variety of other ways:

  • As a statement credit to your account
  • For retail partner gift cards
  • As credit towards specific card purchases
  • As a payment method during checkout at certain retailers
  • For travel through Wells Fargo's portal
  • For merchandise from retail partners
  • As a gift to another Wells Fargo account holder

If you want more transfer partners…

Wells Fargo's travel partner program is in its early stages, so the list of partners isn't particularly robust. You can get a much better list of partners from one of the four major players:
