Amica offers auto insurance and other coverages with an exceptional track record of customer satisfaction. But drivers might pay more for Amica auto insurance than national average premiums, and Amica's auto policies are not available in all states. Read our Amica auto insurance review to see what Amica offers.

Monthly premium costs

Let's look at how Amica auto insurance premiums compare to the national average car insurance cost of $3,017 (per year) for all drivers. Drivers' exact car insurance premiums will vary based on state, location, driver age, mileage and value of vehicle, and more. Based on The Ascent's data analysis, good, experienced drivers can get a discount of about 15.5% with Amica compared to the national average -- but Amica's premiums for young drivers are shockingly high.

Coverage

Just like any auto insurance company, Amica's auto insurance coverages vary by state -- not all coverages, types, or minimum required limits will be the same in every location. But Amica offers a wide range of auto insurance policies and coverages that should suit the needs of most drivers.

Policy types

  • Auto
  • Marine
  • Motorcycle
  • RV and Trailer

Amica auto insurance is not just for cars and trucks. No matter what vehicle a driver might need to insure, whether it's a two-wheeled motorcycle or a massive motorhome, an SUV, RV, or watercraft, Amica can likely offer an insurance policy to help protect it.

Coverage types

  • Auto glass coverage
  • Auto loan/lease coverage ("gap" insurance)
  • Bodily injury liability
  • Collision
  • Comprehensive
  • Medical payments
  • Personal injury protection (PIP)
  • Platinum Choice® Auto -- premium coverage
  • Property damage
  • Rental reimbursement
  • Ride-hailing and delivery driver insurance
  • Roadside assistance
  • Uninsured/underinsured motorist bodily injury
  • Uninsured/underinsured motorist property damage

Amica offers an impressive range of auto insurance coverages, from fundamental must-have coverages like liability insurance, to comprehensive insurance, to ride-hailing insurance and full coverage for auto glass repair. The Platinum Choice® Auto package offers premium coverage, including free credit monitoring. Exact availability of coverages (and premium costs) will vary by state.

Customer service and ratings

Amica is one of the best car insurance companies for customer service and customer satisfaction. The company ranked as the best in the U.S. according to J.D. Power's 2023 U.S. Auto Claims Satisfaction Study, and best in New England according to the recently published J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Auto Insurance Study.

The company's high ratings on J.D. Power studies are also backed up by its high rankings on Trustpilot: 4.5 stars. Not every insurance company gets such rave reviews. A few recent comments from Amica customers emphasized their positive interactions with real human beings answering the phone, not bots.

Amica has been accredited by the Better Business Bureau since 1957 and has an A+ rating, but its BBB.org profile has dozens of customer complaints and a 1.28 star rating. In fairness to Amica, the insurance company appears to be responding promptly and courteously to all customer complaints on BBB.org. The low star rating on BBB.org might not be the best representation of the typical Amica car insurance customer experience.

Other insurance available

  • Condo
  • Flood
  • Homeowners
  • Life
  • Pet
  • Renters
  • Small business
  • Umbrella
  • Wedding and event

Because Amica is more than just a car insurance company, it offers a range of unique insurance policies, from life insurance to homeowners to pet insurance. One of the most interesting policies is Amica's wedding and private event insurance. This insurance coverage can help protect special events from extreme weather, cancellations, vendor no-shows, liability issues, and other losses.

When looking for an auto insurer that offers coverage in all 50 states: Geico auto insurance is available in all 50 states and is known for offering cheap car insurance, while Amica auto insurance is only available in certain states.
