KEY POINTS

  • Platinum cardholders can get up to $20 a month towards Disney+, Hulu, and/or ESPN+.
  • Blue Cash Preferred and Blue Cash Everyday cardholders can get $7 a month on eligible subscriptions when they spend at least $12.99 a month.
  • Enrollment is required to activate your credits.

The best card perks are the ones that are easy to use.

It's no secret that I think the Disney Bundle has become the streaming choice to beat. But I'm hardly the only one. Between Disney+ and Hulu, Disney has gained serious market share -- enough that it's pushing Netflix out of the top spot.

While the focus on popular content certainly is a big part of Disney's success, smart partnerships have undoubtedly also played a role. For us credit card lovers, perhaps the best partnership is the one Disney has with American Express.

Why? Well, if you have an eligible American Express card, you can actually get credits towards your Disney+ and/or Hulu subscription. (Terms apply; enrollment required.) How much you can get varies by card. Here's a breakdown.

Featured offer: save money while you pay off debt with one of these top-rated balance transfer credit cards

Platinum cardholder credits

The Platinum Card® from American Express has gone through a series of changes over the last couple years. A big part of this has been Amex's attempt to evolve their flagship card from a travel rewards card into a "lifestyle" card with broader appeal.

One of the features added to the card is a monthly $20 entertainment credit. This credit is fairly limited in scope, but it does include a few pertinent services: Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu -- and the combination of all three known as the Disney Trio Bundle. (Terms apply; enrollment required.)

You can choose to subscribe to one, two, or all three services and still qualify for the credit. You can max out the credit with the top-tier Disney Trio Premium, which includes ad-free Disney+ and Hulu, and ESPN+, for $19.99 (before taxes).

You'll need to enroll in the credit before you can use it, but this only needs to be done once. Then, you simply need to use your card to pay for your subscription and the credits will be applied automatically.

Blue Cash cardholder credits

As much as The Platinum Card® from American Express has certainly gained widespread appeal, it still isn't for everyone. If nothing else, that $695 fee can be a little much. (See rates and fees.) But you don't need Amex's marquee card to enjoy the perk of discounted Disney services.

Instead, you can get the $95-a-year Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express. (See rates and fees.) Or you could even get the no annual fee Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express. The two cards share the same credit.

Now, the Blue Cash credits aren't as good as those offered by their more expensive sibling. You only get $7 a month -- that's up to $84 a year -- towards your subscriptions, and you need to have at least $9.99 in qualifying purchases each month to get that credit.

As with the Platinum Card credits, the Blue Cash cards require you to enroll to activate your credits. You can do this in about a minute through your card's benefits page online or through the Amex mobile app.

Good cards made better

If you're already a Disney Bundle subscriber -- or want to be -- these credits are a fantastic value. It's an easy $84 to $240 a year back on purchases you'd be making anyway. And given that all three eligible cards are already pretty awesome, the perk is just icing on the cake.
