How to Get Every Major Delivery Service for Free

Many or all of the products here are from our partners that compensate us. It’s how we make money. But our editorial integrity ensures our experts’ opinions aren’t influenced by compensation. Terms may apply to offers listed on this page.

KEY POINTS

  • Most delivery service freebies are credit card perks, but Amazon is also in the mix.
  • Always cancel your membership before any free promotional period ends.

Get food delivered without changing out of your pajamas -- or paying more than you need to.

One of the greatest changes to retail of the 21st century has been that you can now get nearly everything delivered to your front door. The downside? It can be really hard on your finances -- unless you join (and pay for) yet another subscription service.

Luckily, you may already have the means to get a free membership to your favorite delivery app. Check out these deals to see if you're eligible.

GrubHub+ | Amazon Prime

An Amazon Prime membership isn't cheap -- it's currently at $14.99 a month -- but the retail behemoth does pack a lot of random perks into its membership package. In this case, we're talking about a one year complimentary GrubHub+ membership.

GrubHub+ members get free delivery on delivery orders of $12 and up (before tax, tip, and fees). Members also get exclusive discounts and a matching donation on eligible orders.

Existing GrubHub+ members are also eligible for this offer. Be sure to cancel before the one year is up to avoid the regular $9.99 a month charge. If you cancel your Prime membership, you lose your free GrubHub+ membership.

DoorDash DashPass | Chase

Just about anyone with a Chase credit card can get a DashPash membership for free for at least a few months. The exact perks you get will depend on what credit card you have.

Chase Sapphire Reserve®:

Free DashPass through Dec. 31, 2024 (or a minimum of one year, depending on activation date). Plus, get up to $5 a month in DoorDash credit while enrolled in DashPass.

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card:

Free DashPass through Dec. 31, 2024 (or a minimum of one year, depending on activation date).

Chase Freedom Unlimited®:

Free DashPash for three months after you activate. If you stay enrolled, the following nine months come with a 50% discount. After the first 12 months, you'll be charged full price each month.

Chase Freedom Flex℠:

Free DashPash for three months after you activate. If you stay enrolled, the following nine months come with a 50% discount. After the first 12 months, you'll be charged full price each month.

Many Chase cobranded cards are also eligible for up to 12 months of free DashPash after activation. This includes most hotel and airline partner credit cards.

DashPass members pay $0 delivery fees on orders of $12 or more. All cards require you to activate your free DashPass by Dec. 31, 2024. (Though this date may change; Chase has extended their partnership with DoorDash a couple times already.)

Instacart+ | Chase

Another delivery perk you can get just for being a Chase cardholder is Instacart+ for grocery delivery. Depending on the card, you can get up to a year of free membership, as well as monthly credits.

Chase Sapphire Reserve®:

Get 12 free months of Instacart+ membership. Plus, earn up to $15 a month in credits for eligible Instacart orders.

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card:

Get six free months of Instacart+ membership. Plus, earn up to $15 a quarter in credits for eligible Instacart orders.

Chase Freedom Unlimited® and Chase Freedom Flex℠:

Get three free months of Instacart+ membership. Plus, earn up to $10 a quarter in credits for eligible Instacart orders.

Instacart+ members get free delivery fees on orders of $35 and up, as well as reduced (but not 0%) service fees. Don't forget to cancel your membership once your free period ends, or you'll be charged $99 for an annual membership. The offer must be redeemed by July 31, 2024.

Uber One | Capital One

A new perk, you could score a free monthly Uber One membership if you have the right Capital One credit card. Specific cards are even eligible for an extra discount. Here's the breakdown.

Get free Uber One membership through Nov. 14, 2024, plus 10% cash back on Uber and UberEats purchases if you have these cards:

Get up to 6 months of free Uber One membership (through Nov. 14, 2024) if you have these cards:

The free membership is in the form of statement credits to your card account each month. So, you'd enroll in Uber One with your eligible Capital One card. When you pay the monthly fee with your card, Capital One will apply a statement credit to cover the cost.

Uber One membership unlocks perks with both Uber and UberEats, including $0 delivery fee on eligible orders, as well as exclusive promotions and discounts. You'll stop receiving the statement credits once your free membership expires, so remember to cancel before the term ends (or if you cancel your Capital One card).

Walmart+ | Amex Platinum

Most of the perks you get with The Platinum Card® from American Express are focused on travel. And it's true that it's one of the best travel rewards cards we've found. But a few of the card's extras are useful in your everyday life, too -- including a monthly credit for a Walmart+ membership.

Cardholders can get a statement credit to cover the cost of a monthly Walmart+ membership simply by enrolling their card, then using it to pay for their monthly cost. Terms apply; enrollment required. Most of the time, the credit appears within a few days (but may take up to eight weeks).

Walmart+ membership has a lot of nice perks in and of itself. For example, members pay $0 delivery fee on Walmart grocery orders. You also get free shipping on eligible Walmart.com purchases. And most recently, you can get a complimentary Paramount+ (ad-supported) subscription.

Make the most of what you have

It probably doesn't make sense to pick up most of these products just for the free delivery service perks. But if you already have Amazon Prime or an eligible credit card, it can be well worth a few minutes' effort to activate your free membership, especially if you already use the service. Just make sure you're not tempting yourself to spend outside your budget!
