KEY POINTS

  • One marketing company is offering TikTok fans the chance to earn big bucks at a limited-time gig.
  • If you don't manage to snag this side hustle, there are many others you can pursue.
  • It's possible to design your own side hustle based on what you enjoy, such as spending time with animals, cooking, or playing music.

These days, a lot of people are pursuing side hustles to give their income a much-needed boost. You may be eager to snag a side hustle so you can pay down your credit cards, build savings, or sock money away for a specific goal, like buying a car. Or, you may want a side gig so you can do fun things like travel.

The good news is that the gig economy is quite healthy, and there are many opportunities out there to earn money by doing work alongside your main job. But if you're looking for a notably lucrative gig, you may want to consider this limited-time offer to get paid $100 an hour to -- wait for it -- watch TikTok.

Get paid to do something fun

Marketing agency Ubiquitous is looking for three gig workers to sign up to watch 10 hours of TikTok. The goal is to help the company gauge different online trends.

If you manage to score the gig, you'll be rewarded to the tune of $100 per hour for your time, or $1,000 in total. That money could go a long way toward meeting different objectives.

And best of all, you don't have to toil away at a retail shop or spend hours on your feet waiting tables to grow your checking account balance by $1,000. You can lounge on your couch watching TikTok and score a sweet payday.

To qualify, though, you need to be 18 or older. And you need to submit your application by May 31. Candidates should be notified a week later as to whether they've gotten the gig or not.

To apply for the TikTok Watching job, you'll have to subscribe to Ubiquitous' YouTube channel. You'll also need to submit a short bio and explanation as to why you're perfect for the job.

There are plenty of other options to explore

Clearly, your chances of getting paid $100 an hour to watch TikTok are pretty slim given the number of people that are likely to apply for the aforementioned gig. But that doesn't mean you have to give up on the idea of a side hustle, or a fun one at that.

Think about the things you enjoy and how you can potentially monetize them. If you love nothing more than spending time with animals, get a side gig pet-sitting or walking dogs. If you enjoy playing the guitar, see if you can get paid to play at area restaurants and clubs. Your pay might, at least at first, come in the form of tips, but it's a start.

Or maybe you love whipping up desserts in your kitchen. You can look into selling your homemade products at farmers markets, or even via your own website. Just be mindful of the laws in your state as they relate to selling food prepared in a non-commercial kitchen.

Will these gigs pay you $100 an hour? Probably not. But can you earn a decent chunk of money from them? Probably so.

The aforementioned TikTok gig might sound great, but remember, it's fairly short-lived. But if you manage to find a side hustle you like that you can work consistently, you have the potential to do a lot of really great things for your finances.
